Yesaya 55:13
Konteks55:13 Evergreens will grow in place of thorn bushes,
firs will grow in place of nettles;
they will be a monument to the Lord, 1
a permanent reminder that will remain. 2
Yesaya 65:22
Konteks65:22 No longer will they build a house only to have another live in it, 3
or plant a vineyard only to have another eat its fruit, 4
for my people will live as long as trees, 5
and my chosen ones will enjoy to the fullest what they have produced. 6
[55:13] 1 tn Heb “to the Lord for a name.” For שֵׁם (shem) used in the sense of “monument,” see also 56:5, where it stands parallel to יָד (yad).
[55:13] 2 tn Or, more literally, “a permanent sign that will not be cut off.”
[65:22] 3 tn Heb “they will not build, and another live [in it].”
[65:22] 4 tn Heb “they will not plant, and another eat.”
[65:22] 5 tn Heb “for like the days of the tree [will be] the days of my people.”
[65:22] 6 tn Heb “the work of their hands” (so KJV, NASB, NIV, NRSV); NLT “their hard-won gains.”
